Karen Gay is a Transportation Management Specialist newly assigned to DMOI who has worked at the DDOT/DC Highway Safety Office for nearly 38 years. She manages the Occupant Protection Program, Project Safe-Child with federally provided funds. She is a Child Passenger Safety Technician and Instructor. Karen has educated thousands of caregivers, police officers, firefighters, health care workers, residents, and visitors on the importance of wearing a seat belt and properly installing a child restraint seat for every ride. A native Washingtonian, Karen resides in Ward 1. She has three adult children, four granddaughters, and two Rottweilers. Her interests are roller skating, fishing, and sewing.
