Matthew J. Gaskin is Deputy Director of the DC Highway Safety Office. Previoulsy, Matthew served as the Air Quality Coordinator for the District Department of Transportation, engaging in the areas of climate change and transportation electrification. He has served District Government for three years. Prior to joining District Government, Matthew was a Transportation Planner for the National Capital Region Transportation Planning Board, where he was a subject matter expert on regional public transportation and performance-based planning an programming. Matthew has dedicated his professional career to being in public service. He spent time as a Legislative Assistant in  the Texas State Government House of Representatives and the local government of Nashville-Davidson County. Matthew began his public service career in law enforcement, where he served as a police officer for Charleston, South Carolina. Matthew obtained his MPA from The Bush School of Government and Public Service at Texas A&M and a BS Degree in Biological Sciences from the University of South Carolina.
